The difference

What's different about my methods?

When pursuing their health and fitness goals, most new mothers returning to exercise will usually take one of two routes: either they go right back to their pre-pregnancy exercise routine or they begin exploring the typical avenues for moms looking to get active after pregnancy.

 

Yoga. Group fitness. HIIT classes. Dance classes. Kickboxing classes. Maybe some pilates since people say they tend to focus on core strength. Rarely, however, are any of the routines specifically and thoroughly designed for the specific musculoskeletal needs of a mother who has delivered a child.

 

After nearly a decade of doing this work, I've recognized that too many mothers go years or even decades without receiving an exercise routine or program that truly focuses on restoring function and strength to the bones, muscles, and connective tissues of the abdomen and pelvis that are being pushed to their limits during pregnancy and childbirth.

 

The typical postpartum yoga class or generic women's fitness program simply will not provide this level of specificity. If it does, it very often fails to translate or effectively progress to more demanding activities like strength training or running.

This is where The Postpartum Performance Program comes in.

For those who want to safely get back to exercise after childbirth but aren't sure where to begin, this program is specifically for you.

This program is a continuum, safely progressing you from ground-based core and mobility exercises all the way to more demanding activities like strength training, running, and jumping activities.

 

The process will be holistic in that all of the activities practiced in the first few months will provide you with a framework of body awareness, control, and mobility that will be central to every exercise that you encounter along the way.

The focus on strengthening the muscles of the pelvis and abdominal wall will be a regular feature in this program along with daily movements to maintain postural alignment and mobility.

Additionally, a complete list of links to relatively low-cost equipment options will be provided so you can follow your program from the comfort and privacy of your home if you do not prefer or have access to a commercial gym.
